first Ethiopian Music disks!!

The first of a series of celebrations that shall be held to mark the centenary of these Global Heritage 78 rpm shellac disks recorded in Germany by Tessema Eshete on yet to be precisely identified date(s) and month(s) between 1908-1910; was organized as part of the 9th Ethiopian music festival held from 12 to 20 March 2010.

Attached to the links below are random photos taken and kindly given to me as souvenirs of the event; by young hobby photographer, “MELAKU GIZACHEW WOLDEYES”!!

Brief introduction

Though no more with us for long forty five and twenty three years respectively; the eventful lives and works of these two far-sighted pioneering father and son are still acclaimed and fondly remembered by many, and especially by their contemporaries. The ever-lasting National achievements and contributions of the father to Ethiopian Literature, Artistic Heritage, and to Social and Economic betterment in general; as well as the son's uniquely out-standing accomplishments for Ethiopian, African and Global Sports; have been recognized time and again, by Governments and reputable National and International Institutions.
